Yet More Random Thoughts

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Last year there were 164,000,000 prescriptions written for anti-depressants in the USA. This is half of the population! I would love to see the correlation between political affiliation and depression. All I can say is that I’m happy being a life-long independent voter.

Continuing with the big numbers, the Obama administration has made a big deal of late about saving or creating 2,000,000 jobs with their stimulus package. If you run the math, these jobs have cost the taxpayers $392,500 each. Where do I apply? Is this why so many take anti-depressants?

Obama says that two of his very favorite movies are Godfather I and Godfather II. The reason he did not include Godfather III is that it runs a little to close to the truth. “Politics and crime are one in the same.”
-Don Thomasino

The Democrats create more voters by addicting them to government subsidies of one kind or another. Those who consider themselves less fortunate or suffering from some disadvantage are always happy to get things, ostensibly for free. In this they lose their freedom. To succeed in getting more voters the Dems (or the government; the distinction may not really matter) have only to create more poor people. Crashing the economy and raising taxes seems to be a great strategy.

The spending freeze is designed to combat political climate change. Of course it is purely a smoke screen. Cutting $250,000,000,000 in discretionary spending will have no impact whatsoever on our $100+ Trillion national debt (yes, this number is correct. the $12 Trillion number being thrown around does not include social security, medicare, treasury obligations, or interest to foreign creditors.

The death of Air America is proof that Al Franken’s ideas do not resonate outside of Minnesota. The fact he was elected as Senator from that state only served to prolong the Viking curse. Not even Brett Favre could overcome the consequences of the moral decay of the majority of the voters in and around the Twin Cities. Franken voters have proven, however, that one doesn’t have to wear one’s hat crooked or have his pants on the ground to look like a fool.

Art Imitating Life

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

Whether or not Ben Bernanke gets the nod to continue as Fed Chairman is completely inconsequential. He is just a stooge, a high-priced pawn, just like Obama and his supervisors Paul Volker and Tim Geithner. The real powers are the men behind the scenes; people whose names you might never have heard, with faces you would never recognize. To get a feel for the reality that actually exists, brush the dust off of your copy of Godfather III.

“Finance is the gun. Politics is knowing when to pull the trigger.” “Politics and crime; it’s all the same.”

This film may well be the epitome of art imitating life, and far less gruesome than “The Hangover”.

One Week: Two Blockbusters

As if the Brown victory was not sufficient to rock the political world, the Supreme Court has just overturned significant, long-term restrictions on free speech despicably enshrined by the vile and unwise over the last 100 years. The most recent and egregious in this line of limitations on democracy being the legislation bearing the names of John McCain and Russ Feingold.

Essentially, the 5-4 ruling allows corporations and unions the ability to participate in politicking through contributions with the caveat that their contributions are duly and publicly noted for all interested parties to see. This makes great sense. We should know who supports who.

Some cry foul however, because of their misunderstanding of the role and function of corporations, especially in American life. Many look upon the corporations the way I look upon big government and the Federal Reserve; as being evil and corrupt. The reality is that the form and function of the corporation is democratic capitalism; economic egalitarianism; the vote one makes with one’s pocketbook, but more than that. It is not just supporting a product or service through the purchase of that product or service, it is investing in it.

So, who are the corporations? They are you and me, if we have chosen to invest and participate in democratic capitalism. What is so bad about that? Nothing, unless you are a communist.

What Can Brown Do For You?

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

If Obama can serve two years in the US Senate before a successful run for the president, what can Brown do? The guy obviously has what it takes to win as a Republican in a Democrat stronghold. Apart from being tall, dark and handsome, he drives a pickup truck! In a political landscape devoid of clear landmarks, a man of his stature could go a long, long way. His truck has over 201,000 miles on it. He might even be able to rescue the Blue Dog Democrats from the tyrants on the left and from themselves as enablers.

Paying Attention or Just Lip Service?

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

Failure to properly understand the polls or the ultimate result of the Massachusetts Senate race only serves to prove that the Democratic leadership has no interest in what the American public wants, not that there has been much doubt about this fact. They are not tone-deaf, however. These are radicals driven by an agenda which runs counter to all things American. This explains why they don’t care what Americans think. If we survive them, they will wish they had been paying attention instead of lip service.

The Lengthening Dark Shadow Over DC

Friday, January 15th, 2010

The $60,000,000,000 payoff to the unions in the most recent version of health care “reform” guarantees the Obama administration the participation and complicity of these unions in the orchestrated fraud and intimidation that will be essential for Democrats to hold their majorities in Congress in the upcoming November elections. Dems tout the “equal protection” clause when fighting for same gender marriage but ignore it completely when it comes to the way that the government taxes its citizens.

Yesterday’s presidential bluster concerning banks and Wall Street, their complicity in the recent financial crisis and their acceptance of TARP funds, is nothing more than a smokescreen. The fact that Obama made this announcement with Tiny Tim Geithner at his side is evidence that Obama’s message was purely designed to appease the public and appeal to class envy. Geithner was the president of NY Federal Reserve before he became treasury secretary. The Fed is a private bank and earned $56,000,000,000 in the last 12 months! Will he tax the Fed? The Obama administration is filled with former Fed people and Goldman Sachs (Wall Street) employees and officers. Obama is their boy, but then again most politicians of both parties are slaves of the Federal Reserve. The Central bankers are the shadow government. Politics in DC (the District of Corruption) is about as real as the WWF. Until these gangsters and their minions are brought to justice, nothing will really change or improve. Meet the new boss; the same as the old boss. Who are they?

In the Last American Revolution

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

After King George rejected the Olive Branch Petition sent by the colonial congress after the Battle of Bunker Hill (actually Breed’s Hill) and after the winter pause formerly forced upon hostilities, it became very clear to both sides that the Dorchester Heights area of Boston were of significant importance for both sides in the conflict. In March of 1776, Washington determined to take the Heights and place thereon the cannon taken at the capture of Fort Ticonderoga. The British General Howe, ordered a near simultaneous amphibious assault on the Heights from across the bay, while the fledgling colonial army under George Washington took the overland route. As the race to capture the Heights unfolded, a storm and wind arose to drive the British invasion force back. Washington was able to secure the position without firing a shot and now held the commanding ground above Boston and its harbor. Howe, fully aware of the precariousness of his position, withdrew his forces to Halifax, Nova Scotia.

This set the stage for another significant weather event which turned the tide in the Battle of Long Island, wherein an unseasonal fog covered the evacuation of Washington’s forces from the jaws of seemingly certain doom.

Just as Charles XII, Napoleon and Hitler were driven back from the gates of Moscow by the fiercest winters of their respective generations, the weather has played a role in many of the most momentous occasions in history. The current uncommon cold that has beset our nation on the heels of the Copenhagen Global Warming Conference is no mere irony or coincidence. Neither is Scott Brown’s candidacy for the Massachusetts US Senate seat left vacant by the death of Ted Kennedy. Just as the weather intervened to allow the upstart colonial army to take the Heights, the changing political climate will allow a new upstart to change the dynamic in the Bay State and the nation. Climate change is a reality, and it is man made, but it is commonly the result of our iniquities, as opposed to our industry.

What is the Point?

The horrific crime that stunned the small New Hampshire village of Milford, and everyone else with a heart, serves as a very pointed and poignant illustration of the irrationality of those at the forefront of the effort to ban guns, and this for two reasons. The first, and most obvious, is that the murderers used machetes, not guns, in their monstrous attacks on their two defenseless victims and, second, that their victims were defenseless. Had the mother been in possession of a firearm or had the perpetrators of this crime feared the potential of confronting an armed citizen, this crime might have been prevented.

It is a fact that jurisdictions in which the populace is not discouraged from owning guns; where concealed weapons permits are encouraged, violent crime has subsided. Is New Hampshire among the number of states that discourages or encourages a reasonable level of self-defense? What are you prepared to do to protect yourself? Are you more fearful of guns or the maniacs who will harm you regardless of their weapon of choice? Can some deviant murder you with a screwdriver, a hammer or a baseball bat if you cannot or will not defend yourself?

These are questions you will need to answer for yourself, especially in light of the fact that the current administration is considering a UN sponsored world-wide ban on gun ownership. Educate yourself on the issue and take a stand in defense of the Second Amendment, without which all of your other freedoms are meaningless.

Don’t Hold Your Breath

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

For those of you who are hoping for change in 2010, please remember that the primary cause of disappointments are our own irrational expectations.

The reason that those presently in power are not bending to the will (as indicated by polling data from multiple sources) of the majority is that they no longer need to. They have good reason to believe that their grasp on the levers of control can be maintained by the use of non-democratic means by the willful complicity of Acorn, SEIU, the upcoming immigration “reform” and the use of illegal aliens to pack ballot boxes with fraudulent votes. This is nothing new but it has risen from the realms of the haphazard to an art form as community organizers and their minions, numbering in the millions, have rallied round the cause. What is the cause? It is the demise of the American Democratic Republic for the purpose of wealth redistribution.

Again, this is not new. The following is an excerpt from the book “Sellout” written by David Schippers, the Democrat counsel for the House Impeachment proceeding in the case against Bill Clinton. His research unveiled a host of offenses, not the least of which was the successful attempt, by the administration, orchestrated by Al Gore, to influence future elections by manipulating the INS, the Immigration and Naturalization Service.

“My staff and I agreed that we needed to focus on the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS), which appeared to be running out of control. By the time we came to the subject, investigations by the General Accounting Office (GAO) and congressional committees had already indicated that the White House used the INS to further its political agenda. A blatant politicization of the agency took place during the 1996 presidential campaign when the White House pressured the INS into expediting its “Citizenship USA” (CUSA) program to grant citizenship to thousands of aliens that the White House counted as likely Democratic voters. To ensure maximum impact, the INS concentrated on aliens in key states; California, Florida, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, and Texas, that hold a combined 181 electoral votes, just 89 short of the total needed to win the election.

The program was placed under the direction of Vice President Al Gore. We received from the GAO a few e-mails indicating Vice President Gore’s role in the plan (which are included in Appendix A at the back of the book). He was responsible for keeping the pressure on, to make sure the aliens were pushed through by September 1, the last day to register for the presidential election.

In our investigation we uncovered a case study evidencing what is pejoratively known in political science circles as “Chicago Politics.”

Chicago politics. What else needs to be said? What else should we expect?
