Yet More Random Thoughts

Last year there were 164,000,000 prescriptions written for anti-depressants in the USA. This is half of the population! I would love to see the correlation between political affiliation and depression. All I can say is that I’m happy being a life-long independent voter.

Continuing with the big numbers, the Obama administration has made a big deal of late about saving or creating 2,000,000 jobs with their stimulus package. If you run the math, these jobs have cost the taxpayers $392,500 each. Where do I apply? Is this why so many take anti-depressants?

Obama says that two of his very favorite movies are Godfather I and Godfather II. The reason he did not include Godfather III is that it runs a little to close to the truth. “Politics and crime are one in the same.”

The Democrats create more voters by addicting them to government subsidies of one kind or another. Those who consider themselves less fortunate or suffering from some disadvantage are always happy to get things, ostensibly for free. In this they lose their freedom. To succeed in getting more voters the Dems (or the government; the distinction may not really matter) have only to create more poor people. Crashing the economy and raising taxes seems to be a great strategy.

The spending freeze is designed to combat political climate change. Of course it is purely a smoke screen. Cutting $250,000,000,000 in discretionary spending will have no impact whatsoever on our $100+ Trillion national debt (yes, this number is correct. the $12 Trillion number being thrown around does not include social security, medicare, treasury obligations, or interest to foreign creditors.

The death of Air America is proof that Al Franken’s ideas do not resonate outside of Minnesota. The fact he was elected as Senator from that state only served to prolong the Viking curse. Not even Brett Favre could overcome the consequences of the moral decay of the majority of the voters in and around the Twin Cities. Franken voters have proven, however, that one doesn’t have to wear one’s hat crooked or have his pants on the ground to look like a fool.
